Editorial: The Next Phase in Scholarship and InnovativeResearch in Science Education

Volume 38 of Research in Science Education (RISE) heralds a new era for the journal.After 13 years as Chief Editor Campbell McRobbie takes on a more consultative role insubsequent volumes as Emeritus Editor. During his service as Chief Editor, Camtransformed the journal from a single issue collection of refereed papers – that wereinitially presented at the Annual Conference of the Australasian Science EducationResearch Association (ASERA) – to a four-issue journal in 1995, independent of theconference. Soon after, Kluwer and then Springer published the journal internationally. Asnoted on the ASERA homepage (see http://www.asera.org.au) RISE became an ISI listedjournal in 2003, joining Science Education, the Journal of Research in Science Teaching,and the International Journal of Science Education as the major international scienceeducation research journals.
