Bergen, Norway's second largest city, is to renew its association with light rail. After almost a century of use, the tram lines fell silent in 1965, but following a decision in 2000 to reinstate a transit system, an order for 12 low-floor Variobahn units has been placed with Stadler, Berlin. Initial delivery is scheduled for 2009.
