Terry McQuoid seems to be staring at a clump of liatris and rudbeckia that are complementing each other perfectly in the late morning sun, but he's not. His gaze is actually directed a couple feet above the flowers, toward a pair of large, square windows. Those windows look out upon a 5,000-square-foot meticulously planned and planted healing garden in the courtyard of the Mille Lacs Health System hospital, clinic, and nursing home in Onamia, Minn. Terry and his wife, Dusty, spent seven weeks at thehospital in late 2004 and early 2005, mostly on the other side of those windows.
