Lord May urges stop the rot for A-level science

Lord May of Oxford,urged the Government to reverse the 'disturbing'downward trends in the number of students taking mathematics,chemistry and physics A-levels.Addressing the annual general meeting of the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee on the Governments forthcoming ten-year investment framework for science and innovation,Lord May said:"One,if not the most,important aim of such a framework must be to ensure that we continue to produce successive generations of highly skilled,innovative and creative individuals to drive forward the cutting edge of science.The UK has an enviable track record for producing world-class scientists."
