A three day course on practical food microbiology (basic) was offered by the Centre for Food Research and Innovation (CRFI) of the Department of Wine, Food and Molecular Bioscience, Lincoln University, last month.The course attracted attendees from the food industry and science graduates intending to enter the job market. This particular course was designed to develop essential skills in microbiological testing of foods and assurance of food safety. Dr Malik Hussain is the coordinator of food microbiology and safety short courses at Lincoln University and says increased training in food microbiology is absolutely critical to the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders and the success of our export markets."
