The latest BP legal skirmishes over the 2010 Macondo disaster could have been written for a courtroom drama, featuring allegations of fraud and money laundering and a cabal of lawyers attempting to hijack the claims process for their benefit. Ordered by US District Judge Carl Barbier in New Orleans to uncover possible corruption and wrongdoing in the BP settlement program that compensates victims of the disaster, former FBI Director Louis Freeh cleared the program's Chief Administrator Patrick Juneau of wrongdoing or unethical practices. But Freeh said he uncovered evidence of potentially criminal behavior by others working for the program.
