Shale-Focused Vantage Files for IPO

Independent oil and gas company Vantage Energy filed paperwork last week with US regulators to hold an initial public offering (IPO) that could raise as much as $400 million. The Colorado-based company holds about 52,000 net acres in Greene County, Pennsylvania, prospective to the Marcellus Shale, as well as roughly 38,000 net acres in the Barnett Shale of North Texas. The firm also holds about 80,000 net acres in Utah's Uinta Basin. The firm first entered the Barnett in 2007 and the Marcellus in 2010 and has two rigs operating in each play. Vantage is not currently developing its Uinta assets.
