摘要

The realistic values of annual maximum daily rainfall for different recurrence intervals are required for proper designing of different soil and water conservation measures. In the present study an attempt was made to predict annual maximum daily rainfall of Boorakayalkota in Kolar district of Karnataka by probability analysis. The theoretical probability distributions viz. Log-Pearson Type III, Log- Normal and Gumbel were used to get the expected rainfall values. The agreement of expected values with observed values was compared by Chi-square test of goodness of fit. The best theoretical probability distribution was with the lowest sum of Chi-square values. The result indicated that Log-Normal distribution gives best fit for the annual maximum rainfall data.
