Dependence of urban climate on urban morphology

Sealing factor, sky view factor or aspect ratio of street canyons or urban structures can be usedto explain influences on phenomena of urban climate. Based on near-surface air temperature(T,) data and statistical parameters being calculated from measured Ta values, single and multi-ple regression analyses were carried out to determine the influence of the sealing factor and skyview factor on Ta characteristics. Ta data measured in the temporary urban climate networkwithin the research project URBAN CLIMATE IN BAVARIA (STADTKLIMA BAYERN) inMunich (south Germany) represent the basis. The results of this re-analysis show that the high-est correlation can be reached with the sealing factor for the annual amount of total heat andmean annual T_a for the single regression. In the multiple regressions, the highest regression co-efficients are found for the annual number of warm days, total heat and mean annual L.
