Darren Lamont Seawright and Daniel M. Woods, inmates at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution (HRYCI) and the Delaware Correctional Center, respectively, sued Commissioner Stanley Taylor, Warden Rafael Williams, maintenance supervisor Joseph Paceco and the State of Delaware in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware pursuant to 42 U.S. Code Section 1983, alleging that the plumbing lines at HRYCI are contaminated with lead. Judge Kent A. Jordan on March 17 dismissed the damages claims against the state and prison officials. The judge permitted the plaintiffs to proceed with a claim for prospective injunctive relief against the state.
