Judge denies motions to dismiss West Fertilizer lawsuits; first trial set for Oct. 12

Several defense motions seeking dismissal of the multi-party lawsuits stemming from the April 2013 explosion at the West Fertilizer Co. facility in West, Texas, were recently denied by the judge presiding over pretrial matters in the case. Judge Jim Meyer of Waco's 170th State District Court also rejected a.defense motion to delay the start of the first trial from Oct. 12 to February 2016. Meyer's decision came on Aug. 21, and included 27 separate rulings in the case.
