Most British housewives are not concerned about the way in which the eggs they eat are produced. "The benefits derived from eating eggs mostly outweigh the feelings they have for the hens," Claude Hart, a director of the Qualitative Consultancy told International representatives at the IEC's Spring Meeting in London, earlier this year. Discussing research which his company had conducted on behalf of the British Egg Information Service on British housewives' attitudes towards egg consumption and egg production, Mr. Hart said the findings showed that eggs themselves are distanced from the production process.
