JL French UK has been honoured with the Cast Metals Federation Company Achievement Award 2002 for commitment to invest in the future, expand into new markets and for 'remarkable efforts in training and staff development'. Speaking on behalf of CMF chief executive John Parker reported that JL French 'represents the best practice, excellence and innovation in the UK cast metals industry'. Receiving the award on behalf of JL French, company managing director UK operations, Tim Price spoke of how '2001 and 2002 had been an important transitional time for the company'. During this period the new 20m pounds investment Witham site moved into volume production with the installation of two large diecasting cells, and the Presteigne site moved into full production in its new 7m pounds special purpose machining bays. This was supported by the recruitment of new staff including six more apprentices and the development of a training school in the foundry to enhance the commitment to training and development of all staff.
