A 50% increase in yield, a major reduction of pesticide use and large savings with water have been achieved in the tropical lowland of Indonesia by using a new greenhouse especially designed for the region. In the tropical lowlands of Indonesia heavyrainfalls, wind and various pests and diseases often damage the open field grown crops. In addition, the high use of pesticides often leads to unacceptably high levels of residues, heavy pollution of the environment, and high levels of pesticide resistance by the insects.
