Natural gas liquids (NGLs) extracted from Marcellus shale natural gas could mean a much needed new source of feedstock for the two Sarnia ethylene crackers. But at present the various proponents of competing pipelines are jockeying for position. The issue of where the NGLs will be fractionated also has to be settled. The producers of the gas and the potential buyers of NGLs are also key players in this complicated maneuvering.
