An ISO 9000:2000 series primer

ISO standards are reviewed periodically to decide whether they need confirmation, revision or withdrawal. The purpose is to ensure that they take account of technological and market developments and that they remain the state of the art.The ISO 9000 series was first published in 1987 and it was not until 1994 that the first revisions were published. The reason was that management systems were new to many of the organizations engaged on establishing quality systems on the basis of the ISO 9000 standards.
