The new ISO 9000:2000 series of standards - its contribution towards business excellence

In order for ISO 9000:2000 certification to help companies to advance their quality assurance systems further and to bring them closer to Business excellence, it is important to understand the true value and the limitations of the new ISO 9000:2000 quality management standards. This paper highlights the shortages and the quality management areas with the lowest performance improvement from certification to the previous ISO 9000 series of standards, highlighting the contribution of the new series of standards in these low performance areas and the next steps towards Total Quality Management (TQM) and Business Excellence.
