摘要

Over the past decade, High Content Screening (HCS) has become an essential approach in many areas of life science research and drug discovery. The technique combines diverse cell-based assays with robotics, automated image capture, advanced image analysis and sophisticated software that provide richly detailed information on cell morphology and other cellular responses on a large scale. By exploiting cellular assays in a high throughput imaging and analysis format, HCS enables researchers to perform more complex experiments, increasing the number of questions that can be asked whilst simultaneously decreasing the time taken to achieve results. In contrast to more traditional methods such as microscopy, western blotting or flow cytometry, HCS is nondestructive and much less time consuming, offering a straightforward and efficient solution for scientists studying cellular processes.
