摘要

A general and effective method is presented to solve the eigenvalue problem of a circular multilayer dielectric waveguide. And the transmission characteristics for different kinds of fiber gratings are calculated with rigorous vector mode matching procedure. This general method is applied to a detailed investigation on the phenomenon of mode coupling between cladding-mode and core mode to that less attention is paid in the literature. Our numerical results show that the present method is simple and effective.
