This invention expresses the solution of a nonlinear partial differential equation governing the light signal transmission through optical fibers as a product of two functions after each step interval. One of the functions is obtained by considering only the linear effect and the other function is obtained by using the conventional numerical methods for ordinary differential equations. This invention provides higher order numerical analyses and stable results with smaller errors than the currently used symmetrized split-step method for the same step length. In particular, this invention can monitor errors very easily, which reduces the overall calculation time.
