摘要

This study determined the effect of ascorbic acid pre-treatment in reducing lead induced abnormalities in erythrocyte cell membranes of albino mice. Results showed that the erythrocytes of albino mice receiving oral sublethal doses of lead showed alteration in the surface features and morphology compared with normal cells. The most significant change was the discocyte-erythrocyte transformation. There was a revival effect of vitamin C in reducing the lead induced abnormalities in the erythrocyte cell membrane.
