CNPC eyes Verenex

State-owned China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) is trying to buy Canada's Verenex Energy. The deal could be worth around US $300m, reported the South China Morning Post, adding that a successful bid would boost CNPC's portfolio in Africa, where Verenex owns a 50% stake in part of Ghadames Basin in Libya.
