摘要

Decreased ciliary muscle activity and lens geometry were also considered responsible for presbyopia. However, they have not been confirmed in experimental studies. In fact, an increase in human ciliary muscle contraction have been found4 and suggested that it happens as a response to an increased resistance in lens deformation (caused by the loss of elasticity). Other classical experimental studies have shown age-related decrease in lens elasticity5 and this was later associated to a decrease in lens deformation in a experimental model of accommodation were older lens showed less optical changes than younger lens when subjected to the same magnitude of stretching.
