Physiological and haematological changes induced by treadmill exercise in crossbred cattle

Five crossbred male cattle were selected from the herd of NDRI, karnal for the study and maintained under identical conditions of feeding and management. The different physiological reactions, i.e., respiration rate, heart rate and rectal temperature, haematological parameters, i.e. red blood corpuscles, white blood corpuscles, haemoglobin, packed cell volume and different haematological indices, i.e., mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration and mean corpuscular haemoglobin and blood glucose and lactic acid in blood estimated before and after end of one hour exercise on treadmill at 2.5 km/hr and during 2 hours of rest. Physiological reactions, red blood corpuscles and lactic acid increased whereas remaining parameter decreased due to exercise. During rest period of two hours are not enough to return the all parameters to almost on their basal levels, therefore, some additional time should be given to the animal for complete recovery in their different reactions. During work, the increase or decrease in different reactions was in physiological limits.
