Neurofibroma in a Dobermann dog and its surgical management

Neurofibroma is a common tumour of dog, originating from schwann cells of the neurilemma. In man, it is multiple and inherited as an autosomal dominant triat in Von Recklinghausen's disease (Goldschmidt and Shofer, 1992). This communication reports neurofibroma in a Dobermann dog surgically. A bitch was presented with complaint of a swelling on the carpal joint region of the left fore limb. It was able to put weight on that limb but showed intermittent lameness while walking (Fig.1) Clinical examination revealed a movable tumour like swelling on the area and it was decided to remove the growth surgically.
