The European Parliament's committee on International Trade (INTA) this week rejected a proposal by the rapporteur on the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) that it be submitted to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for legal review, which would have delayed parliament action for more than a year. The decision to reject the proposal of ACTA rapporteur MEP David Martin for an ECJ review puts the parliament on its original schedule to hold a final vote on ratification of the ACTA at its June plenary session. The European Commission is still expected to submit the ACTA to the ECJ for a legal opinion, possibly by early April, but this will not delay the parliament's ratification process.
