摘要

The chief negotiator for the United States in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks last week acknowledged that Vietnam is the country with which the U.S. faces the toughest bilateral negotiations on goods market access because they raise very sensitive issues for both sides. "We are slowly making progress on a package that will be balanced and that addresses the offensive and defensive interests of both countries, but we have to do so in a way that is comfortable for both countries," Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Barbara Weisel said at a Feb. 12 event on Capitol Hill sponsored by the Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy.
