In this part of the feature on Darjeeling plantations, Lt. Col. Hannangan has narrated the toilsome process of manufacturing the 'Brick Tea" which was highly favoured in the Tibetan households during those early days of tea manufacture. In this connection, he has quoted the notes of two pioneer planters. Although the notes indicate the experiments made by the writer-planters in making tea, they may be considered as the representative of Darjeeling manufacture in those days. But, however, the note ofE.A. Wernicke is strikingly different from that of the other - the note of F.A.B. Cowley, whose family once owned Mary bong and Kyle tea estates.
