Full production of the Evoque is now under way at Land Rover's Halewood facility, and it's time for all the hard work that's gone into preparing for that moment to pay off. Main story by Matt Prior, interviews by Colin Goodwin. L and Rover's programmes director, Murray Dietsch, is an easy man to talk to. I like it when an industry interviewee, given the choice of heading to his office or strolling straight over to the car you've come to talk about, opts for the latter. Design and engineering become understandable, tangible, when they're laid out before you. We're in a big studio at the Jaguar Land Rover Engineering and Design Centre at Gaydon. Beyond a set of doors and behind some screens there are styling mules -and their current competitors - ready for customer clinics. In our studio, there are three-door and five-door Evoques sitting next to each other, with the LRX concept car off on the other side of the room.
