Pound for pound, Renaultsport is probably the most creative performance arm attached to any of the mainstream car manufacturers. And I write that in full knowledge that fans of BMW's M division, Ford's RS department and Mercedes' AMG will no doubt go into apoplexy as a result. Although no one is quite sure what it is they put in the water at Dieppe, where Renaultsport is based, you'd feel inclined to take a slurp of it if offered a glass to accompany your steak frites. How else can you explain the thinking behind cars as delightfully unhinged as the mid-engined Clio V6, the Sport Spider and the front-drive R26R?
