摘要

The long-running electricity supply problem in the Philippines’ Mindanao region will start to ease by the second quarter of next year as new power plants come on line. Additional power plants will add 1GW to the region’s supply and raise its reserve cushion — the amount of capacity in excess of peak-load demand — to 650MW, according to the Mindanao Power Monitoring Committee (MPMC), which the central government set up in 2012 to help resolve the region’s power supply problems. But some areas may still experience supply interruptions, if the local distribution utilities are unable to contract the necessary power for their requirements, the MPMC warns.
