"Podcasting in medical education: can we turn this toy into an effective learning tool?" by Zanussi et al. is a well written article that raises a valid question about how podcasting should be used and evaluated in education. It has excellent points such as how one should clearly define the role of podcasting in the delivery of a curriculum or that we should not just use a technology in teaching because it's popular and inexpensive. The article ends by raising a few questions that the novice educational podcaster should ask when venturing in this direction. As educators, and as someone who use podcasts extensively (AJ), we agree with the article on many points, but we have two comments we wish to underline: one on the passivity of the podcast and the second on the questions to ask during evaluation.
