Otto Marine orders 4 PSVs from Wuchang

Otto Marine has signed contracts with China's Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry for the building of four platform supply vessels (PSVs) with the option of another four. The Singapore-listed offshore marine service provider is expected to receive the four 4,000dwt newbuild-ings in 2016. Based on designs from Ulstein Design & Solutions, the PSVs will support offshore activities further from shore and in deeper waters. They are also equipped with four stainless steel tanks for flammable liquids or corrosive chemicals (LFL tanks) as well as tanks for oil, water, and drilling fluids. Each ship has a maximum speed of about 14.5kt and can accommodate 30 people. "The PX121 vessels boast a performance you would normally expect from a larger PSV," said Ulstein Managing Director Sigurd Viseth. "Being able to do this at a medium-sized PSV cost, with reduced emissions and fuel consumption, the shipowner gets a favourable combination of two market areas." Garrick Stanley, group chief executive officer of Otto Marine, said: "We look forward to welcoming the four new Ulstein vessels into our fleet in early 2016 to be deployed around the world to the oil majors and customers we support."
