Comprising two articles on German educator and philosopher Otto Friedrich Bullnow (1903-1991), the book features Schwill's reflections in 'The Meeting of Cultures: Otto Friedrich Bullnow in Japan,' and Treml's investigation into Bullnow's general contributions to the field of pedagogy. The former article traces Bullnow's periodic visits to Japan, his cooperation with Japanese educators, his relationship to his Japanese students in Germany, the publication and significance of his magazine 'Culture and Upbringing,' and the ultimate influence of Japan on Bullnow and his work. Roughly one-sixth the former's length, the latter article frames some general hypotheses in the Bullnow system.
