The study was carried out in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand state. Aim of the study was to know the motives for receiving the training under S. G. S. Y. and I. T. I. The study revealed that most of the beneficiaries of I. T. I. had received the training in tailoring, stenography, electronics, embroidery, etc. Whereas the beneficiaries of S. G. S. Y. had received the training in dairy, poultry, masala making, agarbatti making, weaving, etc. The main motives for receiving the training by the beneficiaries were income generation, getting extra qualification for matrimonial purpose, getting the certificate of training, utilising the free time, etc.
