Swiss agrochemicals firm Syngenta is cutting and relocating 1,800 jobs worldwide in line with efforts to save $l-bn by 2018. The move forms part of the company's accelerating operational leverage programme, which was announced in February. Actions, which include the reduction and relocation of 500 jobs in Basel, Switzerland, where the company is based, will begin to be implemented immediately. "We are today reporting important steps in the implementation of the first phase of our accelerating operational leverage programme. In the short term, this will underpin the realisation of initial cost savings in 2015 in the context of a challenging market environment. Longer term, the comprehensive actions announced will enhance both our com- mercial effectiveness and the power of our innovation," Syngenta CEO Mr. Mike Mack said.
