Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common heterogeneous clinical syndrome manifesting as a rapid decline of kidney function (10). It has become a serious global health problem that accounts for 1.7 million deaths per year (19). Sepsis, ischemia-reperfusion, and nephrotoxin exposure are the main etiologies of AKI, among which nephrotoxicity constitutes 25% of the total AKI cases (8). Additionally, more aggressive application of nephrotoxic drugs in the complex conditions contributes to the increasing incidence of nephrotoxicity (15). Cisplatin is an effective antitumor drug, which is widely used for treating numerous solid tumors. However, its application is limited by its toxic side effects, especially nephrotoxicity, existing in one-third of patients treated with cisplatin (9).
