(Poster Presentation) Development of Doppler Sensor System to Monitor Elderly People Activities

An aging society becomes one of Japan's, serious issues. In response to this problem, many technologies and services are proposed to monitor an elderly people. However, those methods mainly detect emergency situations by means of a usage of a gas, water and thermos bottle, hence do not observe abnormality of people's daily/monthly/yearly activities which gradually change during a long time. we propose an elderly watching system using a Doppler sensor. A major feature of a Doppler sensor is to detect movement of a target, i.e., an elderly, so is fit to monitor activities regardless of surrounding environment. The proposed system extracts a health condition focusing on the change of the activity amount of elderly people, and notifies the results to families.
