摘要

Excess weight and/or central body fat distribution are associated with increased long-term renal risk, not only in subjects with renal disease or renal transplant recipients but also in the general population. As the prevalence of excess weight increases worldwide, excess weight may become a main renal risk factor on a population basis, particularly because the risk extends to the overweight range. However, investigations of obesity and renal function in Chinese primary diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus are scarce. We examined the associations of obesity with renal function in a cross-sectional study of drug-na?ve patients in Zhejiang province. Conclusions: Both obesity and BMI are associated with poor renal function in primary diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus. Our results provide important evidence that simply measuring BMI might predict CKD in the Chinese population, and an intensive strategy must be developed.
