Conversion of one anastomosis gastric bypass/mini gastric bypass to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass for bile reflux gastritis after failed Braun jejunojejimostomy

Bile reflux gastritis and esophagitis are potential complications of one anastomosis gastric bypass/mini gastric bypass (OAGB/MGB). We have described previously laparoscopic management of bile reflux gastritis after OAGB/MGB associated with a short gastric pouch [1]. Proper surgical technique including a long narrow gastric pouch when performing OAGB/MGB can minimize the complication of bile reflux gastritis [2,3]- Similarly, series from expert surgeons report very low rates of bile reflux gastritis/esophagitis after OAGB/MGB [4,5]. We report on a patient who presented to our institution after undergoing conversion of laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (LAGB) to OAGB/MGB followed by failed Braun side-to-side jejunojejunostomy to correct bile reflux gastritis/esophagitis without clinical improvement
