Measuring Solvency and Its DeterminantsAmong Small and Medium Agribusiness Enterprisesin Imo State, Nigeria

The link between small- and medium-scale enterprises (SME), solvency, and economic growth and development is not in doubt. This study measures solvency and its determinants among agribusiness enterprises in Nigeria. The study concludes that development of Nigeria's agribusiness enterprises is possible through consistent policy formulation and implementation, particularly those that address market access and reduction of interest rates in loans down to single digits. In addition, government should formulate good policies, strengthen its institutions, and partner with private sectors to ensure improved access to finance. These recommendations, it is suggested, will help position these enterprises to contribute meaningfully to the economic developmentof Nigeria.
