BESA presses for better IAQ awareness as offices reopen

Ventilation systems must now be considered by end users and building managers, as a vital factor to ensure the health and wellbeing of staff returning to work, according to BESA. The industry body has reiterated warnings given to contractors and building managers throughout the ongoing pandemic that best practice for air handling systems must be to ensure they operate fully on external air. This will ensure that any airborne viral load is diluted to limit potential health concerns. However, BESA said that there is now a growing requirement to educate staff, as well as building engineers, to be aware of the need for effective ventilation in offices and other buildings that are now reopening after lockdown.
