Effect of delivery management on first-week neonatal outcome: How to improve it in Great Danes

摘要

A different incidence of neonatal complications has been reported in several species according to the duration of the various labour stages and the type of delivery. Trauma associated with dystocia may result in the release of neonatal catecholamines and cortisol that negatively affect neonatal metabolism, thus survival. Aim of the present study was to assess how the first-week neonatal outcome is affected by a different management of parturition.
