Influence of Maternal Age and Parity in Pregnancy and Neonatal Outcome. Analysis of 25,755 Deliveries

Maternal age seems to be an important factor in the way of delivery and the rate of complications, both gestational and neonatal ones. We have done a retrospective cohort study reviewing the records of 25,755 deliveries, grouping them by age and parity, and analyzing different variables related to way of delivery and neonatal outcome. The results of the study confirm the fact that women aged over 40 have an increased risk of instrumental delivery, which is more intense in primiparous than in multiparous.
