Professional reintegration after a diagnosis of cancer: A study of factors influencing return to work

Background: A lot of cancer patients face after following their treatment the complex challenge of reintegrating themselves professionally. Both research and practice highlights the need for interventions that facilitate professional reintegration. The aim of this study is a quantitative analysis of factors associated with (returning to) work after a cancer diagnosis, in order to set out guidelines for further interventions. Methods: This multicentre questionnaire study enrolled 104 cancer patients (Mage = 48.41). The survey package comprised a WIS, SSLI, COPSOQ, HADS, GSE and MFI. Of these, the predictive value was examined on whether or not the work to be 8 to 10 months after diagnosis.
