China lifts ban on refinery additions

China’s environmental protection min-istry has lifted a ban on state-controlled PetroChina and Sinopec undertaking new refining projects or expansions to existing facilities,after the firms proved that they have taken measures to reduce pollution.The ministry sus-pended all approvals in September after the companies failed to meet pollution targets for 2012.
