A court's ruling that the interim US Bureau of Land Management(BLM)director has been serving unlawfully is casting doubt on the validity of more than a year's worth of gas drilling approvals and other actions affecting the upstream sector.The Sep.25 decision by a federal district court in Montana raises questions about a number of land use orders and lease sales,and could undo the BLM's move in August to open up a portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to oil and gas drilling(NGW Apr.6'20).
