Glass ceramic chucks prevent structural distortions in silicon wafers

Exposing silicon wafers to electromagnetic radiation during chip manufacture requires special fixtures called chucks. German researchers have now developed an electrostatic flat chuck made of a glass ceramic that will help prevent structural distortions on the exposure mask and the silicon chip.
