Correlation Between Pregnant Women’s Knowledge of the First 1000 Days of Life, Family Support and Compliance of Iron Tablet Consumption

Analysing the correlation between pregnant women’s knowledge about the first 1000 days of life, family support and compliance of iron tablet consumption. A cross-sectional study was carried out in Kenjeran Public Health Center areas, Surabaya District, Indonesia. The sample inthis study is 56 pregnant women. Iron consumption compliance was measured by Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8. The knowledge and family support was measured by the score of questionnaire. Analysis of correlation were performed using Spearman’s rank and chi-square. Among pregnantwomen, 10,7% were categorized having high compliance, 33,9% have medium compliance, and 55,4% have low compliance. There was significant correlation between knowledge about the first 1000 days of life (p = 0.000), family support (p = 0.001) and compliance to iron consumption.Low compliance was higher in pregnant women who have low knowledge of 1000 days of life and low family support. The findings from our research highlighted that the knowledge about first 1000 days of life in pregnant women is important in preparing pregnancy’s health, then informationabout it should be given. The family also should give pregnant women support in consuming iron tablet.
