摘要

Studies on tomato storability in China in the 1990s are summarized as follows: (1) tomato storage properties are quantitatively controlled by multi-genes; (2) storability is closely related to fruit anatomic structure, especially cuticle thickness;(3) supply of trace fertilizers during the fruit setting period increases epidermal cell wall thickness, and hence storability; (4) fungicides such as thiophanate methyl, carbendazim (as Bavistin) and captan have positive effects on freshness retention,but also influence fruit composition, especially by destroying Vc [ascorbic acid], degrading acidity and increasing sugar content.
